CIFAS Application Fraud

Just got SAR back from CIFAS to find I have 2 markers for ‘application fraud’. Will all my accounts get closed? The reason is inconsistencies in applications.

It’s not a ‘first party fraud’ marker though so I’m hoping this won’t affect me other than anything I apply for myself being triple checked with extra ID ect to make sure it’s really me applying? Am I correct?

Okay so category 3 or 4.

I dont think we know, it can depend on who you bank with. A cat 6 (first party fraud) is generally a killer, the others can depend. It can also affect your employment if you work in Finance etc.

"Incosistencies in applications" - If deliberate, you won't be able to get them removed. If accidental (eg. mistype in an insurance comparison website) then you may have some luck.

Nothing to lose by contacting the compan(ies) who placed the markers to ask them to remove.

It may help if you post images of the SAR, blocking out personal details.

Sorry for asking the question but were there Incosistencies in applications and if yes of what nature?

Which bank is it?

CIFAS are terrible worse than a default or CCJ. Its like 6 years in imprisonment.
