I am also still not satisfied with there being no notices up advising that the date in question was a match day.0

Match day, kick off etc, these terms are nonsense unless.you follow whatever the match is about, chess match, tennis match, safety match, strike anywhere match.
likewise the nonsense about kick off.
I would complain to the retail park owner.
Also keep a time sheet on how long you are spending on this, and then try and claim it back from the retail park, charge them at say £16 per hour (slightly under the £19 rate to make it more reasonable) even though it will have a low chance of success it will cause the retail park owner a headacheFrom the Plain Language Commission:

Surely the term "match day" should be defined on the signs, is it sa day on which one buys Lucifers? You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

It seems other have been caught unawares at that site, and have had their appeals upheld at POPLA

Thank you all for your help ... Premier Parking decided not to contest my POPLA appeal. 1

For anyone else reading this who has received a "match day" PCN at Capital Retail Park, my appeal to POPLA was based upon there being no information at all about what dates were match days. I included pictures of the signs stating just "match day" and made sure the rest of the post was included to show that there was no extra signage providing a list of match day dates or kick-off times. I also included the link provided above to the BBC news article about the upheld claim on the same grounds. Good luck!1

Well done Bookgirl and thanks for the feedback. I'm sure this will help others caught by the 'match day' trap. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
