  • Morning all, brrrrrrrrr it's chilly ! I don't have to go out so it's ok, except I need to top up the bird feeder. I think it'll be a smash and grab, fill and then the reverse the operation.:rotfl:
The WM is on and I shall strip the bed in a moment, then wash the bedding. The upstairs will be hoovered and dusted and the bed remade. Thanks LWW for reminding me about the Xmas cakes, mine need feeding today too. NMLC mentioned cleaning the oven, so that's now on my " to do " list too..... thanks, I think :D. I also need to sort out some Xmas bags, I keep them from year to year and I bet I don't have the right sizes for this years presents . Dad's presents are done, the last one, his book came yesterday, so I can wrap those.
I don't know what to have for tea today, there's plenty to choose from between fridge/freezer and cupboard anyway.
LWW DD will call early morning if one of the DGC are too poorly to go to school, but it's the late night ones that scare me as that is more likely to be my Dad in some sort of trouble :(.
Tru I'm glad the service went as well as possible.
Hester hugs to you and Steve.
Nelski my BBF lovely to "see " you. Nice to know you are so busy with work.

Thinking about those MIA's and especially Holly and Poppy, hope you are both OK.
Take care and stay warm. Hugs to all.
    nan xx
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently
  • Its double brrrrrrr here this morning, very heavy frost and freezing fog, although the fog does look to be thining a bit. So glad we do not have to go out. Having said that we are probably going to move the shed from next door round to us at some point today. We cannot put it in its proper place until the 'sentry box' has gone.

Not sure whats for supper tonight, think we may need something hot
like stew....... I think I have a pot of beef stew in the freezer so that will be for tonight. Possibly rice pudding for dessert.

Dumpling, we have a fleece blanket that Steve pulls over himself if he's feeling chilly - I rarely need it these days.

We were quizzing last night and came third, some of the questions were very hard but we always enjoy it and it's lovely to see our quizzy friends.

We bought the tree yesterday and were given a small one in a pot as well. I've offered it to Laura who hasn't much room this year with all the baby paraphernalia. If she doesn't want it Chris and Crystal will take it I'm sure because they have lots of places they could put an additional tree.

I started making a table runner for Steve's sister for Christmas. She has asked for it and wants coral, turquoise and cream fabrics which I've managed to put together from my stash. I've been good about not buying too much fabric this year and want to continue next year to try to declutter a bit. When we had the house extended 10 years ago we got rid of lots and the house felt great but I'm now at the stage where I feel that things are out of hand and want to sort things out again.

I know where you are coming from. I have gifted a large amount of fabric to a friend in Scotland, so really have very little left now.

Having seen what the girls next door have had to clear out this last 2 weeks, we have made the decision we need to go through everything, make sure paper work etc is all in order and get rid of a load of stuff we do not use..............that includes some of my precious crystal as well as books and if possible some furniture. I have made a vow to not spend money on anything that is not really necessary, mind you that does not include my embroidery and quilting stuff. I have also written down what is to happen to my two machines should I shuffle off first. Neither of my girls or grand daughter are interested in them, so the cash will be better off in DB's pocket.

Its really paper work we are drowning in. We have stuff back 6 years and although we shred the oldest when we add a year to the pile, the paper work seems to get more rather than less each year.

Its still very cold and foggy, have just turned the heat down a bit the bungalow has warmed up ok. Need to do the veggies for supper, then I can relax for a bit.

Csarina - re paperwork, I now scan everything and store on my PC with a backup on two portable flash drives. The actual papers are shredded. It's certainly helped keep the routine stuff down to a minimum (apart from share certificates etc).

I use a free app called Tiny Scanner on my phone and tabket to save as pdf. The free version does single pages, I paid for the pro version in order to do multiple pages as I used it for work too. Well worth the small price.

The tea trolley is ready, cakes cut up, crockery and cutlery sorted and milk jug filled up. DM been fed (twice) and dishes washed. I've prepped my main meal, I have to get back into my losing weight routine especially as I'm not too active yet.

When in hospital I was so chuffed that the nurses didn't need to fetch an extra large BP arm cuff for me and yesterday was the same at the GP's. Small things are very pleasing!

I'm managing fine with one crutch in the house now. The extensive bruising is a multi-coloured spectacular. Arnica cream is being alternated with ibuprofen gel, what a sight!

Oh grief - Mull of Kintyre is being played on the radio. Makes me think of home. :(

  • Gers, I have a scanner on my printer, can I use that and send the scanned documents to my lap top? Gas and electric bills are on line anyway as are the phone bills and my mobile, bank account and cc account.

Its things like stuff from the council, and council tax people are what I would need to do.

You should be able to use that scanner, Csarina.
