Will I get a ticket?

I was driving on the M62 and the variable speed limit cameras were saying 60 mph. I slowed to 60 and continued to drive. Then I saw the variable speed limit signs ahead which said "60" turn off. I waited a minute or so then sped back up to 70, assuming that they had been turned off for a reason. Around a minute later, having travelled around 2 miles the variable speed limit sign then said national speed limit.
Does this mean I had been speeding for a number of miles and am going to get tickets?

Possibly. Any speed limit sign you pass stays in force until you pass a different limit or NSL.

    I'd say not.

They are usually set to a tolerance of 10% + 2mph, which would be 68mph. Speedometers also over read by up to 10% so an indicated 70mph will be slightly less than this. Cutting it fine though.

Apart from the blank one, I presume you didn't pass under any gantries between the last (60) and the (/)?

If the blank one had a camera, I'd have presumed it was disabled by whatever blanked that sign. But the safest approach is always to follow the last signage.
