One of my friends shops daily buying what she is having for evening meals plus up to 4 items which buy weekly, monthly or less often. These items include milk, coffee, shower gel, cheese etc.
She is spending more money than she needs. For example, she buys a baking potato loose for 28p. Pack of four baking potatoes costs 50p.
I have no idea what happens if she falls ill or injures herself so unable to go to the shops. Doesn't have many people around her that can help.
Do you shop daily like this or know anyone else that does this? Do you think they are saving money or not?

surely if you cannot get to the shops (or don't feel like shopping) then uber eats/deliveroo is the answer - i normally buy what i need each day and don't generally pay more0

I don't shop every day (life is far too short) but I do shop every few days for fresh stuff because I never do a big weekly or monthly shop. I have a store cupboard and freezer for things that don't use straight off (big pack of meat, for example) so I wouldn't starve if I couldn't get out.
I don't see why shopping every day means she has to buy a single potato though - I'd still buy the pack of 4 and keep them till I wanted to use them. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I shop once a week for two of us. Then buy a few bits at the weekend for whatever is needed until I shop again on the Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week. Seems to work okay for us.
I used to work with someone who had two Aunties who went into town each day to "buy two tins of fresh soup for dinner"0 -
Has your friend said why she shops every day? Is it an excuse to go out and talk to people or get some exercise?0

I do a biggish shop once or twice a week and then little daily pops to the shop for bits. I have 3 older teenagers at home and there’s no way I could do one shop a week and be done with it...just because who knows what will be eaten in record time this week! Lol£2 Savers Club 2020 no. 90

Yes I have a colleague who shops every day
I dont understand how she has the time for it. going to a supermarket once a month actually does my head inThe opposite of what you know...is also true0 -

This could be the reason which is understandable but in general I don't think daily shopping is a good idea unless you are very disciplined.
Also many new build apartments are very tiny with a kitchen/living room and limited storage space and people in bedsits with even more limited facilities might find it easier to shop daily.
I know someone who does this because she can't drive and is pretty disorganised any way. She does a weekly shop either with her DH or online but every day she goes to the (much more expensive) little Tesco for 'a few bits'. She always seems to spend more than the bread or milk or whatever she planned particularly as she goes after collecting her DD from school and is always buying treats.
Personally I favour a meal plan with a weekly shop to go with it. Biscuits and cakes for DH are built into this but when it's gone it's gone. The only other time I go to shops is if I'm near somewhere (like Farmfoods or Home Bargains or £ shop) where I stock up on storecupboard things. This works well for us.0 -

She works and talks to her colleagues, Gets her exercise by walking her dog about 40 mins a day. Has a car as well which she could get a bigger and better value shop
You must know her well enough to know that she buys a baking potato for 28p so why not start a conversation about shopping, meal planning etc?0
