Video doorbell

I'd like a video doorbell, but do they only ring on a phone? I've got a plug in wireless bell with a nice loud ring that can be heard all over the house and wonder if this can be used in conjunction with a video door bell? Many thanks for any help!

I don't think they do, at least the Ring doorbell doesn't although it can be wired into an existing door chime or you can get this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ring-Chime-enabled-indoor-doorbell/dp/B0765D8TXQ

You can buy a ring wifi enabled indoor chime for your video doorbell from Amazon ( and other suppliers no doubt)

Are you sure it's a good idea? There have been multiple reports of them being stolen.......
  • My Ring also sounds the old chime unit we had.

Better not own a car then, plenty of them are stolen as well.

They initially had a thing where if your doorbell got stolen then they'd replace it. Now they're owned by Amazon I'm not sure if that's still the case.

The differences being that generally, it's extremely easy to steal a video doorbell and can be done by just about anyone which has a screwdriver to prise it off the door or frame.
Modern cars are much harder to take and unlikely to be stolen on a whim by a drunken passer by or someone tying impress their mates.

Also, depending on your location, the police don't always do too much about cars being stolen so I honestly can't see them allocating any manpower to investigate the theft of a £100 doorbell/camera.
