If that's the only risk, then that's no risk at all.0

Assuming you are suing the agent in a civil court, and you lose, you could be liable for one or more ofOk, if it really doens't go in my favour (but I believe I have a case) - what's the worst case scenario if I lose the court case?
 * your own initial court fees
 * the agent's court fees for defense
 * any legal fees you incur if you employ a solicitor or barrister
 * any legal fees the agent incurs if they employ a solicitor or barrister
 * your other incidental costs (lost earnings, travel, postage/paperwork etc)
 * the agent's other incidental costs (lost earnings, travel, postage/paperwork etc)
Plus non-monetary costs like time and stress.
Please come back after your hearing and let us know the outcome - whether positive or negative for you.0

Why would I have to pay the defendant's solicitor fees at the small claims court?0

The letting agency has settled for the full amount that I was asking for before this reached the courts. Thank you to everyone for your 'super valuable advice'. I'm surprised that people from 'moneysavingexpert' forum think that it is completely fine to get charged poorly described/defined fees, not receive the service that you think you pay for and then swallow it. Good luck.0

It doesn't mean you are right or indeed would have won in court. The agent obviously decided spending a day in court and having someone potentially cause harm to their reputation not worth the time and cost. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0
