Invisible Window Cleaner?

About two years ago, we had a knock on the door from someone starting a new window cleaning business who asked if we had a window cleaner. We didn't, so they said when the business was up and running they'd come back to us to give us prices, etc, but they never did.
Apparently, there were 2 or 3 occasions right at the start where they came round to clean our windows when my wife was home (she used to work shifts), knocked on the door when they finished, and my wife paid them cash. She can't remember how much.
Since then, I'm fairly sure they've been coming once every 6-8 weeks (as our windows are occasionally suddenly clean) but neither my wife nor I have ever been in when they've come round.
We have no way of contacting them (no name, business name, phone number, or email address) and - apart from at the very start - they've never knocked on the door or put an envelope through to ask for payment.
I don't know what they're meant to be charging as we've never been given a written invoice or agreement of any kind.
I'm worried they'll suddenly turn up with a bill for hundreds of pounds and demand we pay it.
What on earth do I do in this situation?

Just tell him you can't see him.A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".0 -
Leave a note on the door / window...0

I'm surprised they've never put a card through the door to say they've cleaned your windows, every window cleaner I've used in the past does this. You're going to have to make contact with them so as suggested, nearer the time leave a note out for them to contact you and leave a bill. Also worth asking your neighbours, somebody else will probably be using them.
At the end of the day you do owe them for the work done.0 -

This.
Bit late now, perhaps, but putting the money into an envelope every time the windows had been cleaned would have solved the problem of facing a huge bill now.0 -
Can't you ask neighbours if anybody else said yes to the window cleaner in question & get details that way?
Window cleaners I've used in my properties over the years have always called every 4 weeks, it would be unusual for a window cleaner to only call every 6-8 weeks I think. It could just be different lighting conditions that make your windows suddenly look cleaner. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
If the guy comes for his money, tell him you only moved in last week.
Seriously, you should put maybe £10 a time away somewhere.0
