Strange Text From PPI Company

To cut a long story short.... I saw a PPI Company on Facebook in July so I signed up and was told I would get a update every week , 4 weeks later after trying to call them and email them I got no response so I thought it was a fake company so I signed up with another company along with my wife. In September I got a update from the first choice company so I got in touch with them and cancelled the account and I was told they would stop searching.
Today I got a text from the first company about another update, so again called them they are looking into it. Strange thing is my wife got the same text, she never signed up for the first company, do I smell something fishy?
