Phi Delay question

Options
My question really is - is this length of time to pay normal or not ?

Off work since last year. Paid normal wages up till April. Phi in theory kicks in from them. Saw Bupa consultant beginning of Sept 2007 to establish whether illness is genuine etc. Was notified early Oct 2007 that his report received and claim accepted. System is Phi paid to employer who then pay to me. So I expected 6 months worth end of Oct but nothing. Spoke to employer beginning of Nov - they said they were querying the Phi calculations as they thought the numbers wrong and couldn't understand them - so it missed the 15/10 payroll cutoff date. Ok. I asked if I'd get it end of Nov payroll, oh yes I'd get something. Just had my payslip and nothing there again. So now the earliest I can get it is end of Dec, and thats only if they agree the Phi calculations in time - no guarantee.

So from May 2007 to Dec 2007 which is 8 months I've had nothing to live on ( O/H kept us going ). I realise till I saw their consultant in Sept I wasn't accepted, just somewhere in the system, but since then ???? It just seems an awfully long time before cash kicks in from a Phi policy ? Or is this normal ?
