Installing Megaflo price

Hi. I want to replace my immersion heater for a 210 litre megaflo. I have been quoted £1700 inc. vat to supply and fit. The extra pipework will be going along wall about 4 metres Into bathroom where an electric shower was once situated. Easy access and one extra hole for pipes will have to be cut through stud wall to get into bathroom from airing cupboard.
Dose this quote sound reasonable?
Thanks.

My advice would be not to do it!
DD bought a house with a Megaflow system and although only a few years old it cost her a fortune in repairs, replacing valves, two expansion tanks etc. Plus a big water bill as it kept letting water flow straight down the drain.
So if you do go ahead check what you will have to pay if it goes wrong a year or two down the line.0 -
We've all got megaflo where I live.
Never had an issue apart from replenishment of the air gap every couple of years , causes that dripping of water you were on about. 5 minute job , properly installed megaflo has all the isolating valves you need to do the job , turn off cold water supply , drain hot water , turn cold water back on to refill and replace air gapEx forum ambassador

A genuine Megaflo is around £1000. So, the fitting charge is around £700, including supplying pipework, joints etc. It doesn't sound way off target. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Megaflo is an expensive brand name, not the system type - that's an unvented indirect (if heated by a boiler) cylinder. Personally I don't see the point of picking the most expensive brand name when cheaper brands will be good enough for your purposes - should be able to save at least £300 by not being fooled by the marketing.0

Agree with the above. Having had a megaflo brand name unvented cylinder, I'd choose a (cheaper) alternative next time around. The Joule cylinder seems to be well priced and well rated. Or if you have a Vaillant boiler, their UniStor cylinder works well in conjunction with it.
The Megaflo's main selling point is the "air bubble", negating the need for an expansion vessel. It's rubbish. It requires replenishing far too often and in the end I just had an external EV fitted instead.0
