Solicitors and Surveyors in South London

Hi everyone!
I've been unprepared and my offer in a flat got accepted a couple days back - I am now trying to sort out a surveyor for a HomeBuyer survey and solicitors for the mortgage. I've done a couple of comparison sites but I'd rather go with someone that comes recommended. So if you have any recommendations (flat is in South Norwood) please let me know!
Cheers
Irene

Things can always go wrong for someone with suppliers who were perfectly fine for someone else, so obviously do your own due diligence, but:
re: solicitors, I have bought two properties and sold one, using a firm called Emin Read. Their head office is out in Sussex, but they have a South London office in Balham. We found them very responsive, sensible and competent. Friends of ours used them for a purchase recently and found the same.0 -
I used a company called Cunningtons for my last 2 moves. They used to be based in Bexleyheath but then relocated to South Croydon. If you think you'd consider using them, get an idea of their costs & then pm me as I have a card with code that gives 15% discount. It's applicable for any future conveyancing work for myself or friends & relatives.
The 15% discount is applied only to the actual legal fee, which often is the most costly part of the process anyway. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I can highly recommend Tim Rillet at H & C Surveyors. They are based in Wimbledon so I would imagine South Norwood would be ok for them http://hcsurveyors.co.uk/0

Thanks everyone - Tim Rillet has been recommended by a work colleague already so although he is a bit pricier I think he'll be my choice. Most people I know have just told me they hated their solicitors and obv. mortgage broker and state agents want to push their own agenda, so I feel I'm being pressured from all sides to make a decision ASAP! I think the sellers just want to get as much done before Christmas so I'm having a hard time holding my ground.0
