British Gas Homecare Agreements

I've been a BG Homecare customer for over 40 years. Moved to current property 14 years ago and a new boiler was installed about 4 years ago. Every year the price of the renewal has jumped up and this year was so significant I looked around at alternatives. Was pretty tempted & impressed by price and reviews of Hometree. With their price in mind I called BG to say I was considering leaving. I hadn't expected a great response as other posters had said BG pretty much said 'no deals' which is annoying as they are currently doing a special for new customers, Homecare 400 for £38 per month. The only way for existing customers to get that is to leave for 3 months and then re-sign up. However, to my surprise, I managed to haggle a 20% discount on my quoted price. So I advise others to do the same rather than accept the first price they give you. It really does seem that every insurance/contract should be checked at renewal for the best deal.

Tune in tomorrow when Sheila reveals more ground breaking news such as the sky is blue and the earth is round :beer:Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Is your boiler still under warentee with the manufacturer ?
If so what are you paying BG for ?I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

* how much have you paid them over that period?
* how many times have you called them out?
* how much would you have paid a local contractor for those call-outs?
You'd be better off putting your monthly payments into a savings account to use if/when you get a beakdown. You'd be really rich by now!0 -

hhmmm its not always evaluated that way. Sometimes people just want the security/peace of mind of not getting a large bill and making one phone call to someone you trust. You could use the same mind-set on all insurance.
I once needed a leak detection team. Go see how much they cost if you can get anyone interested.0
