When a buyer returns something without opening an ebay returns request

Somebody asked me if they could return something because they made a mistake and it doesn't fit them. Being charitable I agreed if they return it directly (without ebay's return case), at their own cost and receive only the refund for the item cost (minus original postage). They've happy with that.


My question is- after refunding via Paypal- is there a way to cancel the transaction/get my FVF back with ebay? As it'll show as a part-refunded transaction.

Nope, you may have painted yourself into a corner. Obviously you can refund the paypal part and receive your fees back on that proportion but your ebay fees remain payable in full. The only way to recover your ebay fees is to cancel the transaction will would need you to refund in full.

Thanks soolin. Nevermind, FVF still cheaper than the original postage. Will bear it in mind for the future.
