British Gas Account

I’m a new user but wanted to ask you all if this is something you’ve experienced.

I opened an account with British Gas a month ago, since then I have had 2 letters from them but they were posted to my old address (moved out a year ago) as they have set it as my correspondence address without me telling them to. I currently have mail forwarding (ends in 3 days).

I asked them to change this 2 weeks ago which they said they had, but I then had another letter in the same way. I spoke to them today and they said my profile has my old address from an account I had 3.5 years ago and that it could take up to 28 days from supply starting to change it to my new supply address.

I somehow find it ridiculous that rather than sending a letter to the new supply address (unless I give them a different correspondence address of course!), they think it’s ok to send to an address they haven’t supplied to for 3.5 years.

Has anyone come across this before?
