What’s happening with my pending transactions???

Options
Hi this is my first time on here. My bank acc comes up with available funds that are significantly lower than my balance, and the pending transactions do not add up with the available balance to the total of the actual balance, what does this mean?

Comments

  • The available funds can be less or more than your balance, depending on what you've spent (ie more or less than half).

Adding pending transactions to available balances won't equal actual balance, as you're adding a negative to a positive.

Your available balance, if accounting for pending transactions, should be your limit less your actual transactions, or if accounting for pending transactions., then your limit less actual plus pending transactions.

Savindee, are you talking about a bank account as per your original post, or a credit card?

Some retailers do not authorise for the full amount, or may add a £1 to check the card as well as the actual amount.

Ie. Go to a pay @ the pump and it will auth for £1 or 2 pounds, bur when it debits it will be for the full amount.
    Life in the slow lane
  • Assuming you are talking about a bank account and not a credit card then, apart from the explanations already offered, it is also possible for transactions to clear and not match with their pending transaction. That way, the pending transaction remains despite the fact the actual transaction has come in. This would give the impression of that particular transaction being debited twice.

Do you have any foreign currency transactions in the mix, or hotel/car rentals/restaurant transactions that may have been 'approved' (and become pending) for a particular amount but then been processed with extras, such as room service, petrol costs or tips?
