Moved to new place but no mailbox setup yet here, is post office best option for temp address?

Since it is a new build there are still a few things 'in progress'.
In the meantime they tell me to have mail sent direct to their office but that is very intrusive. I want something private immediately.
So is post office the solution? Do I just ask for a PO Box there? I am reading some threads on here from back in 2006 and they were saying it was only £54 per year to rent one.
I am sure it has gone up a lot since then when I checked a couple of years ago last time I moved although perhaps that was for redirecting rather than a post office mailbox which was like £30 for 3 month iirc which I don't want anyhow since I don't have anywhere to direct to
.
Have to check again now.
EDIT: wow I see the '£54 per year' figure has gone up dramatically too since 2006 and is now £26 per month.
That is mean of them. They only offer the collect yourself option for £2 p/m cheaper than delivered to a real mailbox!
Anyway hopefully it would only be for a couple of month (fingerscrossed).

You can ask the Royal Mail just to keep mail for your address for you to collect, rather than set up a PO box.0

Just to clarify, is this a block of flats and you mean the mailboxes in the entrance hall have not yet been put in?0

I understand it's a new build but surely there a letterbox or somewhere to deliver your post at the property?0 -

Great, thanks. That would be ideal. Will ask later.Just to clarify, is this a block of flats and you mean the mailboxes in the entrance hall have not yet been put in?
Yes.Lover_of_Lycra wrote: »I understand it's a new build but surely there a letterbox or somewhere to deliver your post at the property?
There is. I can have it sent to the management office's address but I don't want to always be having to pester them for my mail. Much better to go to the place that is setup for dealing with mail; the post office.0 -

Are you saying there is no letter box for the property you are renting and the only letterbox is at the management (what management? site management? letting agency?) because that sounds weird.0 -
I used to deliver things around a new build estate. One small block of flats had a couple occupied way before the rest. Somebody, either the occupiers or the management company, screwed a couple of letterboxes with their numbers on to the external wall by the entrance. They are still there now alongside the official ones that were installed later.Make £2025 in 2025

That is what I am saying yes. Site management.0 -
Another option, if you work in an office, maybe you could just get your mail redirected there.0

Why not just buy a lockable letter box (around £25 or so) and fix it to a post outside the building as a temporary measure, just label it up with your name and house number so the postman has somewhere to leave your mail?0

Its really not that odd.
mail deliveries to new development is generally a PITA until fully completed and even then factors such as street signage can be months after that. You can ask the Royal Mail just to keep mail for your address for you to collect, rather than set up a PO box.
Mail collect is no longer available and existing mail collects will cease in September 20200
