LG 32LM6300PLA TV Help

Having spent 20 years using an old CRT tv i've finally updated to a smart tv, i decided to get this 32LM6300PLA. There are so many differences between these tv's and my old one so there are so many questions lol. One thing i'm starting to notice is a bit of a blur when people are moving on screen, i don't think many people would notice it but i do and it's starting to bother me, are there settings on the tv which can stop this? Or is it cos the refresh rate on these tv's is only 50? Should i get a tv with a higher refresh rate?

I have just looked at the Which report for this TV and it isn't that good.

I've copied a small extract from the review regarding the screen.

"The real issues come when during motion. The TV just can't cope and objects judder like they're getting a few thousand volts passed through them"

Unfortunately there are very few good small screen tv's around now and this isn't one of them. .

Is this an issue with the refresh rate then? Would you have any recommendations for TVs with better motion viewing? As my room isn’t very big I’d ideally want no bigger than a 43 inch screen

I would have a look at reviews of Tvs in the size you want including refresh rates. there are so many best buy lists on google.

then go to Richer sounds or John lewis for the 5 or 6 year gtee and price match

If you are saying you are going to purchase another TV so soon?

Yes I’ve been looking at reviews, the way some companies state refresh rates seems to be different to others though, like putting 500pqi rather than 60hz for example. I’m not sure how to compare them. I’ll probably take this LG back and get a better one

Have a play around with the motion blur settings on your TV. I think LG call theirs 'TruMotion', go in and disable this.

I don't think it's so much to do with refresh rate as much as the motion/picture processing when it comes to upscale SD/HD to Full HD.

Just go to a large brick and mortar store like Curry's or JL with lots of TVs and check the picture quality for yourself, then order it online if you will for a better price/delivery etc.

Don't look at cheap smart TVs their "smart" is all terrible. Try to find a dumb TV and just stick a £20-30 Fire TV / Roku stick etc. to make it smart - much better option.

What is your budget for a new tv. Once we know that combined with the fact that you don't want to go over 43 inches then I'm sure that plenty of recommendations will appear.

It's worth looking at what the bigger stores such as PC World have to offer (but buy elsewhere) and if you have a Richer Sounds in your area don't forget that as well as their competitive prices they offer a 6 year guarantee.

The max I want to spend is £400 but ideally less. Having done a bit of research I think the 43inch LG7500 or the Samsung 7400 are good with motion and generally classed as the best at that price range?

As already indicated the smaller smart tvs come out poor compared to the 50" + size ones. Over recent history they nealy all suffer some drawbacks such as you experience which seems to be owing to limited processing power.
However according to Which? their reviews give a couple of LG models the top of the tree (but still just miss being best buys compared to the larger ones) and the 43UM7500PLA is number two and in your price range from Argos. The only apparent picture downside is poor blacks that seem to have small but noticeable level changes - the rest very good!

Update. Now cheaper at AO.com including delivery £356 having just checked again.
