Furniture left in new house

Just got the keys from the estate agent and there is a note attached saying there is a bed left that they couldn't get out. The son is free every night this week so we are to ring him and arrange when he can collect the bed.
It's a big bed and we can't get our furniture in because of it.
We aren't staying there for the next few days as we are having it decorated before we move in. So we will have to arrange a time on the evening when we can go up and let the son in. We work evenings

You can sue for this, contact your solicitor. The removal cost and the inconvenience can be charged.0

Is there a question...?
Yes, it's inconvenient.
No, they shouldn't have left it there - but I bet they didn't do it deliberately, and were swearing when they realised they were going to have to.
No, you don't need to go out of your way - but the sooner it's moved the better, right?
Meanwhile, here in the realm of "being a reasonable human being"...You can sue for this, contact your solicitor. The removal cost and the inconvenience can be charged.
What are you "suing" for? There is no removal cost - they're merely asking when they can collect. What figure are you putting on the "inconvenience" of there being a bed left for a couple of days in a house that the OP isn't moving into until after it's been decorated?0 -
It was out of order for the sellers to leave the bed without agreeing that with you beforehand.
I would call the son and give him one chance to remove the bed. Or else cart it out and donate it to the nearest charity furniture store, book a bulky waste collection with the council, flog it on freecycle or dispose it off in some other way.0 -
Its your bed now. Do what you want with it.0

Do you have a garage? if so move it in there.
If not take it apart, and stack it in a room out of the way for now, hope the son comes for it.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100/100miles

I never understand why people think they can charge for their inconvenience.
I think AdrianC is right in that it’s not a massive deal given your circumstances, so there’s no point making an issue of it. I do think it’s a bit rude of them to let you know via a note stuck to the bed.0 -
I read it as the note was attached to the keys when they were collected from the EA...shortcrust wrote: »I do think it’s a bit rude of them to let you know via a note stuck to the bed.Just got the keys from the estate agent and there is a note attached saying there is a bed left that they couldn't get out.0 -
I would just cut it in half with a saw and leave it outside for the son to collect. They don't need it or they would have made the effort to take it with them.0

They moved out 2 weeks ago and the keys have been with the estate agent for that time.
The son has had the past 2 weeks to go and collect the keys and get the bed.
It's an inconvience as we paid for men to come and reassemble my son's complicated bed and they couldn't do it because that bed is there so they will have to come back.
Also we are not moving there. We work evenings and so we are going to have to try and figure a time that we can go up and let the son in. Assuming he will be dismantling the bed we will have to hang around the whole time....which will be approx 10pm at night.
Not exactly ideal.0
