Cheap Energy Club - No smart meter warning?
I've just come off a three year fix (as found by the MSE Cheap Energy Club). Was great at the time but it seems prices have rocketed in that time.
I logged back in and ran a comparison, and arranged a switch over to Scottish Power. I honestly cannot recall any mention of a smart meter on the tarriff (Super Saver November 2020 B5) but I've received several emails from Scottish Power advising that if I don't get one fitted within 3 months, i'll revert to a standard variable tarriff.
I've checked the MSE confirmation emails, I've checked the Scottish Power confirmation email and there's no mention there. I also can't find any details of the Super Saver November 2020 B5 tarriff online.
If you look at the December B5, point 3 mentions that they may discuss a smart meter in the future but there's no explicit obligation - https://www.scottishpower.co.uk/pdf/tariffs/auto/super_saver_december_2019_b5_t_and_cs.pdf
B6 states that signing up means you are agreeing to a smart meter.

Can anyone find any details online for ScottishPower - Super Saver November 2020 B5 that would help me verify either way? I'm currently in a 50 minute queue to speak to Scottish Power?
I'm probably going to take the £30 hit to change supplier (the MSE club mentions there is a cheaper supplier since my last quote so it may even out, if Scottish Power decide a meter is mandatory.
EDIT: I see it is called out if you expand the options on the MSE club for the new tarriff 'Super Saver November 2020 B11'. Big d'oh on my part.

* Smart meter is mandatory
* I've temporarily swapped out to a high price 2 year fix with no exit fees
* 14 days from now I can change supplier without an exit fee.
* Smart meter install had been booked without my knowledge/confirmation0 -
I regularly examine Cheap Energy Club suggestions sent to me and I am interested in taking up the British Gas offer for dual fuel. Unfortunately, the Cheap Energy Club comparisons no longer seem to specify whether or not smart meter installation is mandatory for taking out a new contract. If this is not provided, I cannot see myself making use of what used to be an excellent and very helpful service to the consumer.
Is the Cheap Energy Club intending to include this important information in the future?0 -
Why don't you ask CEC ?

Is there any other monitor & alert service that provides the information you want as a specific remark?

Is the Cheap Energy Club intending to include this important information in the future?Hi,if you click on the BG deal (new cust only) in this weeks MSE email, bullet point 7 says: You don't need smart meters with this tariff.

I've been looking at this recently with BG and wrote the prices down last Wednesday, after checking again today the tariffs have changed price, most have gone down slightly except for the Unit Rate on the Electric.Is this normal that they vary and is it worth waiting to see if they go down lower as the Unit rate on electric is my highest usage.0
