    Yeah, shove the windows 10 media installed on a usb - re-install windows. Get a refund on the laptop.

    Easier said then done by someone who is as technologically challenged as I am, but I'll give it a go!

    There is plenty of videos on youtube nowadays for everything DIY related.

    Yes, you're barking up the wrong tree with the portable battery, for a defective laptop you just bought, but just for completeness, since your laptop charges via USB-C, a well chosen portable battery IS an option to extend the run time of your laptop away from the mains.
