Seven hundred quid difference per year between TPFT and fully comp?

Is there an echo in here? Yes, that's what I said.

Are you feeling ok today? Are these comments really necessary?

They'll be in the price guides.

Yes, the ones the public have no access to.

Unless the desktop valuers that arrived at their number bothered looking up the VIN with BMW to check the installed factory extras, I doubt any have been taken into account.

I'm just astonished. Normally, the difference between TPFT and comp is minimal - and can actually be negative.

What proportion of your premium is that?

What options make a 25% difference to the value of an elderly 3-series?

I'm not sure what agenda you have with me, but rather than continuing to explain myself to you why don't you just pop yourself on Parkers and take a look.

Yes I know it's not a trade guide: I am not in the trade. And it is a guide.

    I have none.

As I'm sure you know, without a paid Parkers sub, they don't show adjustments to their base value. And, frankly, I don't care £3.49-worth.

So how about you give a few more details...?

I'm not sure why you're labouring this.

The O/P has asked for help in how to increase the valuation and / or next steps, NOT for you to provide a valuation for him?

I think the correct answer here is escalate it to the insurance ombudsman ASAP.

I thought none of the trade guides were accessible to the public since the last of them, Glass's, removed public access?

I only have Auto Trader and eBay to go on.

What makes you think no-one on here has access to the trade guides?

The OP thinks the options will increase the value by 25%. I'm merely interested as to what option will do that on a 10+yo car.

The O/P said "We're about £1000 apart on a £4500 valuation. I provided them with several examples from Auto Trader to demonstrate I can't go out tomorrow and purchase an equivalent replacement vehicle for this price. "

They didnt say their specific options made their specific car worth 25% more.

I dont think its beyond the realms of possibility anyway. A BMW with leather, upgraded factory alloys in a desirable colour combo will be worth considerably more than a car running 16s, cloth interior and a bad colour for example
  • Check the value of your car on Autotraders valuation tool.

    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-valuation

Had experience of 2 write-offs, the offers given were slap bang in the middle of Autotraders valuation when buying from a garage.

Try one of the ones that are £1000 more too, see what Autotrader thinks about them.

    Factory options, or later mods?

Apart from repeating "You don't need to be able to source a replacement", local is irrelevant. Cars can move around the country trivially easy - it's kinda their whole point.

    Yes.

Of course, this would all have been easier if you weren't trying to penny-pinch on the premium by going TPFT. How much did you actually save?
