well i was in a tiny 2 bedroomed flat and i was with powergen and i paid 15pound per week on the gas and 10pounds per week on the leccy and we were constantly in debt...whereas now i am with british gas and living in a large 3 bedroomed house and paying 7 on the gas and 7 on the leccy and i have accumalated a credit of over 100pounds!!!powergen are terrible, there bills are extremely hard to read and their customer service is shocking..there call centre is in india i think and i can hardly tell what they are saying(sorry if thst sounds bad but i dont mean it to)-their always putting their prices up and my leccy payments went up over 2 years from 3.50 pw to a tenner

Every company will tell you they are the cheapest(or at least the call centre operators/salesmen will - as they are on commission)

The only way to work out who is cheaper is to look at the price per kWh for the various companies.

Enter your details in one of the comparison websites.

If you have a fairly low consumption you might look at Ebico as they don't charge extra for pre-pay.

Yeah, they just want you on their commission list. They don't really care about saving you money and a lot of people on these threads have challenged them on the doorstep to find they can't actually prove they are chearper.

You will get a cheaper tariff if you change to a credit meter, add in the duel fuel & DD discounts and oyu should be better off. Have a look at the comparison sites and you may even get some cashback.

That contract will have a cooling off period allowing you cancel it.

I just called to switch from PowerGen to British Gas two days ago. Will be switched over in a couple of weeks. I have done a comprehensive company comparison search and at the current kwh I am using, I will save alot more if I switch to British Gas; and hence my switching.
