Hi !
Just had a new dishwasher delivered in my absence and installed by the retailer. The drain hose was incorrectly fitted and the test load emptied out under the sink and onto the floor after the guys had left. A pool of water remained on the laminate for an hour before it was discovered by family member and mopped up. There is another flat below; no damage reported (as yet) but possible. Don't really want to ask in case it invites trouble.
Customer services said that I would be contacted by the home damage team. A few of the board edges seem to be more promenent than before.
Would be helpful to know what sort of compensation is fair for this kind of situation. I don't think it's a right-off, but may affect the longeivity of the floor. I have seen photos but not able to inspect it myself for another couple of days.
What is fair way to look at this ? Grateful for any help

Fair would be to put you back in the position you were in before the damage occurred. If that involves ripping out and replacing damaged flooring then so be it.0

Yes they should short it out for you if there at fault, for a claim to be successful make sure the laminate that was fitted was designed and suitable for a high moisture area like a kitchen0

Is this your home or a rental property?0

Hi Thanks for replys
It's not a rental. the boards were suitable for kitchen use.
I have inspected it now and just a couple of boards are slightly raised at the short edge by about 3 mm0 -
Once theyre water damaged they deteriorate very quickly. Id be looking at nothing else other than replacing the whole floor. Theyre not easy to piece.
I used to deal with warratny and fault issue with flooring. The manufacture where quite particular with regards to warranties. Things like once youve placed the board, youre unable to readjust or remove that board as the edging can be altered so bascially you get one chance at fitting. Most people get away with it but it was a condition. 48 hrs in room before fitting. Scratches, edges not sealed. Suitable location etc etc. Bascially any guarantee of the product will be gone.
Laminate is expected to last between 10-30 years depending on brand. Take the amount you paid for it divide by 10-30 depending on the quality of flooring you have and multiply out by the years youve not had it to come up with a figure for recompense.0
