Hi, hoping to get some guidance, I recently purchased LED lights from an online retailer for my living room light fixtures. I have used the same retailer and same LED lights previously for the same lights and spread my purchase so I wouldn't need to change all the LED lights on the light fixture all in one go (each light fixture takes 10 LED lights)
From the previous purchase the lights are working fine, on the latest purchase and having only fitted them and turned on the light fixture all was well, the lights lit up then after a minute the light fixture shorted and tripped the fuse.
After resetting the fuse the light fixture where the new LED's were added no longer works, all other lights and electrical around the house are fine. I suspect the LED bulbs have damaged the light fixture.
Do I have any rights to ask the online retailer to cover the damage to the light fixture as all was working well before fitting the new LED bulbs?
I have contacted the retailer via their web form as directed by their automated voicemail, no response just yet.

It is difficult to see how any sort of built could damage a light fitting as the fitting contains no active components and even a sort on one of the bulbs would trip the RCD before any damage occurred.
Have you tried removing all 10 bulbs, and testing the fitting with a single new one? If that does not work then you should get an electrician out to see what the issue is. The electrician should be able to tell if it was the bulbs or just a coincidence, and if in his or her opinion the bulbs have caused damage then you have the proof to take it further.0 -
Assuming you're talking of 12v LED lamps?
The transformer has probably blown. It happens. Just buy a new one. They don't last forever.

Yes I was not thinking about 12v LEDs mine are all 240v. It could be as simple as not having a high enough rated driver and the extra bulbs sent it into melt down.0
