Hsbc ppi

So I made a claim for PPI with the HSBC, I know I had a credit card and loan with them so thought it was worth giving it a go.
I then received a letter to say that there was nothing, a few weeks later I received another letter from them to say I had 4 policies with them.

I messaged them to say that I didn't think that these had anything to do with me. The sort codes didn't match and they had all different account no. They sent me a letter to say that they would look into.

Checking on my banking app and over £6000 is due to go in tomorrow. I have messaged them again as a I have not received anything. Tried to ring but been waiting and when I get through to them they can't help me.

Unsure of what to do, I will have to move the money into a savings account with the same bank as it goes into my account my wages go into and my bills are paid through.

My only other option is to go to the bank when I'm off next week.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

If you are absolutely certain this money is not yours then I wouldn't be transferring it anywhere. If it is an error on their part then, clearly, they'll want it back.
  • But as I don't know how long this will take I don't want it in my main account. If the money is not mine they can have it back, don't have an issue with that.

I think my only option will be to actually go to the bank and ask them to take it back until it's looked into.

Do they issue you a letter confirm how they come about it.

I'm certain you can budget around having an extra £6K in your account, just leave it alone until you are certain the Bank have made a mistake (unlikely, by the way) and the money is not yours.

I can assure you that the Bank will act very swiftly if it is their error.

You should shortly receive a redress letter breaking down the award.
  • I will leave it where it is, but if I have had no letter by Friday i think I will have to go to the bank.

It's just I don't understand why one minute I have no PPI then two weeks later they have found 4 policies all with different sort codes and account numbers.

Wait until you get their letter then ring them. It's highly unlikely anyone at a branch will be able to help you.

This won't happen. Branch employees don't deal with PPI complaints and certainly can't arrange to "take the money back".
Is it really such an imposition to have an extra £6K in your account? Are you afraid the temptation to spend it will be too great?

Nobody here can tell you that I'm afraid, only the bank...
