I was over limit by £15.28 with my vanquis credit card. I paid £3 and £10.45 to cover some of my over limit. My account was locked and I had to do verification. How long does the verification take to complete? I done the verification today. Also, today I updated my phone number from the advisor on phone.

  • You would have been ID'd as soon as you correctly answered the verification questions.

You would have been verified when you correctly answered security questions.

My guess is that your account has been locked because you're still £1.83 over your credit limit.

You can make a payment towards your account by debit card here.

You can also make a payment by bank transfer. Details in Vanquis' FAQ here under the 'How can I make a payment to my account?' section.

I had to do extra verification which they sent link to my mobile phone. I took picture of my passport from mobile phone, linked PayPal account and took selfie from my mobile phone.
  • I wouldn't expect that the additional verification information was taken with the intention of unlocking your account. If they don't have this ID information already banks are currently pushing to do this prior to the new version of EU Anti Money-Laundering Directives coming into force in January. I know my employer (a Scandinavian lender) is.

I would concur with SnowTiger that you need to bring yourself under your limit before your account is unlocked.
