Although you could technically with one of those digital photo frames. I wouldn't personally, but horses for courses...

Had one of those once. Loaded up some of our wedding photos. Turned it on about twice in 10 years - it went to recycling in the end. Pretty certain it wouldn't have been compatible with moving images in an ecard.

I'm assuming there'd be a little jiggery pokery changing the file format, but yes, ultimately pointless by the sound of it

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?

Could you not phone these folk instead? That's what I now do- the people with whom I used to exchange cards now get one or two phone calls - which I know they appreciate.
Most phone plans have inclusive (free) calls

I'd love to but my disability /health effects my ability to use the phone. This is two way as quite a few of the people I want to reach out to with a Christmas card also struggle.

I will do emails etc throughout the year..but there is something special about getting an envelope through the door.
  • I like to send physical cards, especially as a number of people I send to don’t use email (even if they have email addresses!). I don’t like to phone, particularly on Christmas Day itself, as people may be entertaining guests, or busy in the kitchen, or even at church.

I’ve tried sending ecards, I’d prefer to do so for family members in Australia and New Zealand, but even the younger ones don’t look at them, or not until some time after Christmas.

    .

I certainly don't do that! I usually phone , well , anytime from now onwards. I think Christmas Day calls are for family only- particularly those scattered across the world.

    Sorry about that.

Have you looked at the Jacquie Lawson cards? (and no I am not getting commission!!) They are really delightful, from hand paintings. You can send as many as you like, all year round. Most of my friends really like them.

Oh goodness, I wouldn’t phone anyone on Christmas Day, they’ll have better things to do! But people entertain, cook, visit church for e.g. carol services at other times during December. Phoning in early December is just ordinary, not Christmassy. And I’m not about to phone the Antipodean folk at any time, far too expensive.

Have you looked at an over ride service such as 18185?
2.5 pence per minute to Oz, 4 pence per minute to NZ
I use the service for international calls

There may well be other cheap call providers- I have used the one above for many years and pay a small DD every quarter.

Do you use WhastApp? I call relatives in Aus and NZ regularly for free using whatsApp. We never have any problems.
Love living in a village in the country side
  • I was going to suggest that too - we regularly WhatsApp friends in South Africa
