Warning messages when switching on laptop / Transferring contents to new laptop

Options
When switching on my ageing Samsung laptop with Windows 10 upgraded from Windows 7, I see these warning messages with yellow triangles on the screen:
BatteryLifeExtender
DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED
and
EasySpeedUpManager
Driver not found

I continue with no obvious restrictions. (By the way, when checking security, I see that results of searches for the second of these have been blocked as potentially dangerous.)

I have a new laptop. Two questions:
1. If I or a local technician transfer contents from the old laptop to the new one, are these problems likely to be transferred as well?
2. Would it be simpler to start afresh with the new unit?

I guess the second question is a version of 'how long is a piece of string?' I've had laptops for 15+ years and the thought of getting rid of a load of junk is attractive. But I fear it may be overwhelming to make a fresh start.

I'd be very grateful for ideas or solutions from MSE-ers.

It looks like you have some software that is missing components. If you uninstalled them (or stopped them trying to start when turn on the computer) you would likely stop the error messages.

    1. No as you would just transfer user data, not installed programmes.
    2. Possibly. You could wipe your existing computer and re install Windows too. That is a free option.
  • Laptops rely on manufacturer supplied drivers for battery management and screen backlight control. You maybe lucky and find they support Windows 10 on older kit, equally they may not.

Sounds like you have a load of Samsung bloatware installed. Go into add remove apps section of windows and remove the programs mentioned ( battery life extender and easy speedup manager)

    Thanks, folks, for useful info.

I started by deleting the rogue apps, which seems to have speeded up starting.

I'll ponder about transferring contents from old to new myself or with help.

Maybe you need to consider buying an external hard drive and move across anything you want to keep, maybe even think about a new hard drive, an SSD drive to be more exact but thats for another thread.

Thanks, DCFC79. Yes, I have an external hard drive and use it for backups.

Just need to work out how best to use it for transferring old to new. Am searching the web.
