Is it possible to format the sd card on my Samsung Galaxy S2 tablet to use as internal memory the software is on Android 7.

Most probably, put it in and see what happens. Internal storage was a feature added with Android 6.0

Already tried and the option not there just wondering if anyone knew a workaround0

Android should notice straight away, it does on the phones normally.
