    Hey all!

i know riddlesticks - its a huge amount for last month. one was a real posh place with hubby and the others were mid priced or family places like frankie bennys. it just adds up to such an amount. i think i go into denial a bit when i'm doing it and think oh i'll make the money up by cutting down elsewhere but £500?? dont think daily clicks will make it up somehow!

hi mooky! i missed the cafe rouge offer - suddenly remembered on saturday and we ended up going elsewhere and spending £60. it really makes me feel ill.

hi surfbabe - i'm not a grazer as i tend to be so busy during day (she says whilst surfing mse!!!). I do overeat in the evening I guess but this has come down since i've started cutting down the groceries and buying less treats. i also stick to a menu plan to stop waste etc and even bulk cooked tomato sauce the other day!!!! eating out is definitely my Achilles heel!

am definately going to plan for this month and STICK TO IT - anyone else feel free to join in!! i'll go away and have a little think and report back. i think if i can see the money i'm saving, log it in some way, it may motivate me. i cant keep eating our money thats for sure!!

We used to spend a fortune eating out until we had our "lightbulb moment".
We are going to Edinburgh for 3 nights this week and I have managed to find a voucher for a pizza restaurant 1+1 free:j
    A cafe rouge 2for1:j
and some Jimmy chung vouchers 2 for 1:j .
    Toby Inn 2 course meal for £5.00 each:j :j
plus vouchers for free entry to various places.

When we used to go away we would spend:eek: spend  spend:eek: now we look for vouchers and shop around.
A lot of restuarants have money off vouchers.
I think you have done really well with your food budget.

Thanks Frosty - whenever we go away we literally plan whole trips around food - from the best places for breakfast, lunch and dinner to the best icecream shops/food markets etc. food is just my favourite thing!!

i think i'll resolve to try to find deals/vouchers in future - good idea.

    Hi Roxie!

I make my OH laugh as I have to know when I can eat and where! I get really nasty when I'm hungry!

We make a point of having 'dinner' every now and then. We take it in turns to cook for each other or try cooking together, although OH's kitchen is really small.

Always check for 2 for 1 offers or buy 2 for x amount.

When I worked in London you could always get great deals on toptable but if you're not in london then there's nothing to be found that way. bit unfair. the pretheatre offers are good but we struggle to get a babysitter that early.

  • Hi RoxieW, we do the same, for me its down to having no time because of work though sometimes Im just lazy. But also just for a reason to go out. Sometimes we go to nandos and just get a meal to share plus refill drinks just to feel like we got out for the night (sad eh!!) I dont really enjoy eating out as i do it all the time for work. Good luck with working on getting your eating out sorted..
Where is everyone finding these vouchers??

Roxie, the hard bit is changing the way we think about our indulgence, food in your case.

Did you know the reason Japanese people live so much longer, healthier lives is that they have this thang about eating until they are 80% full and then they stop.

Another method is to eat often. Brekkie, then say nuts and a marmite sarnie at 10.30, then a light lunch and so on.

I've learned to find a lot of foods as digusting. For example I think of cheese as blocks of animal fat, or pies as processed junk full of germs the packers coughed into them - this keeps me off em.

No I dont think they are gonna make it up either! LOL. BTW Frankie and Bennys is what I would call an expensive resturant so I can't even imagine what a posh resturant is like. LOL!!!

LOL at above post. Though you are right Conrad, they are blocks of fat albeit tasty ones!!!

My problem is not going to restaurants but takeaways! Sometimes i get a few a week , i just get in from work and can't be bothered and can't remember the last Friday i cooked!

Probably the reason i have put on 2 stone in nearly 5 years since meeting my OH

I want to cut down for two reasons, 1 money and 2 to lose weight.

Although last night i was good(ish), nothing easy to cook so i got off my butt and went to the CO-OP and brought 2 pizzas for £1.39 each as reduced so saved £15 which a dominos would have cost.

I have been to Iceland today and my freezer is now full where this morning it was empty to should help me be less tempted.
Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month
