Do Dacia have December year end discounts?

This time 15 years ago I'd begun the process of buying my lovely Berlingo.

150k miles later, there are so many things that need fixing, I think the time has come to find a replacement. :(

I'm considering a Sandero and wondered if I should buy it now, or in April, when my Berlingo MOT expires.

My reasoning for buying now is that I saved thousands on the Berlingo list price as I bought it December 18th. I played 3 dealers across the country against each other as they fought for my business to meet their end of year target.

Do Dacia do a similar thing? Am I likely to get excessive amounts off the list price if I buy in the lead up to Christmas? I appreciate Dacia are known for not discounting, but wondered if this is likely to change in December.

You could try but generally speaking Dacia dont discount much. Theres little profit in the cars for the dealer as is.

May an ex demo car might be cheaper?

I see a report that they are the firm least likely to reduce price as their prices are low to start with. Worth a try but I wouldn't expect much.

Yeah they make a point of being a no frills, no discount car dealer. If you want a cheaper one (and they are already remarkably cheap) then you'd need to go for a pre-registered/ex-demo/used one.

I think that the pricing structure of Citroens 15 yrs ago and Dacia today will be completely different.

Best thing is to type your details into Carwow

    I've heard that too.

One of the reasons they're cheaper is they don't play the stupid game most other marques do of over inflating the list price on the assumption the buyer will then haggle it down to something more reasonable. Give or take a few hundred quid the price you see is the price you pay.

    Pricing has got farcical.

We bought our M140i for £10,000 less than the supposed list price and i see now theres deals on some of the M cars with up to £20,000 off the price.

    All a bit daft.

You won't get much of a discount, but you can save some money. There's usually a deposit contribution if you take finance. I got £500 plus a warranty extension from 3 to 5 years. Paying it off quicky means it costs much less than £500 in interest.

You might also get a deal on a service plan, but beware of the service intervals. I got 3 years 30,000 miles, but as service intervals were 12,500 miles and I did more than that a year it meant I only got 2 services.

You might get a few quid off via Carwow or Drive the Deal for something in stock, but Dacia aren't noted for haggling.

I bought a nearly new Sandero Stepway and even though it was already registered, they weren't for budging more than a few quid, they did eventually drop the admin fee (yes, admin fee!)

One thing, make sure you give one a good test drive, they aren't everyone's cup of tea.
They can feel a bit baggy in the steering/suspension/drivetrain so they can lollop around a bit and there's nothing refined about the brakes and clutch either.
Sure it all works but it's completely void of any finesse.

The diesel seems a bit more together than the petrols, the 0.9 three cylinder turbo petrol can be a bit of a pain, the spread between gears is massive and there's not an ounce of torque under 2500rpm.
Pottering around town turns into lurching from junction to junction constantly stirring a clacky gearstick.
  • look at trade in deals they some times do that or often do a contribution discount for PCH. sign up, use PCH for 1 month then buy outright. they never used to mind the loss on the contribution.

I did the same as Nebulous2 - took the finance and got a £500 contribution and a 5 year warranty. I then let one finance payment go through before asking for a settlement figure and paying off the rest. I also took a 2 year service plan which I assumed meant 2 services but actually meant 2 years from start of plan date. The start date was a week before I purchased the vehicle so would have run out a week before I'd had the car for 2 years. I tried to book the 2nd service within 2 years of owning the car and they couldn't fit me in so then tried to charge me £175 for the service as my plan had expired. I complained to their head office and, as a 'goodwill gesture' they agreed to pay but did make me feel as if they were doing me a favour. I was furious as none of this was explained to me at the time.
