desktop/tower suggestion please

Options
Some great suggestions on threads here for budget (ish) laptops in the £280 to £350 ish range recently.
Can any one suggest an equivalent PC as desktop/tower/mini that is currently available plus monitor for a similar price?
Refurbs not being considered at present and gaming machine not required i3 i5 with ssd fast enough.
Reason for PC over laptop is ergonomics and easy flexibility/upgrade.

Thanks

    Thanks

You could always get a laptop and connect it to a monitor and use a proper keyboard and mouse.

As for a desktop I see a fair few on hukd and none are near the price you mention but they are refurbs (or majority are) but these dont always include a monitor.

If you are willing to you could upgrade the hard drive in a laptop so its more speedier or a desktop too.

What exactly are you planning to upgrade, as most likely you should by that feature now? The old 'future proof' was nearly always a sales con.

Nip along to your local computer shop, they'll probably be able to put one together for you using standard parts having asked you what you plan to do with it; you'll also have someone to take it to if it goes wrong.
  • Thanks all. On reflection it seems laptops currently offer best value but with the downsides. Those will have to be acceptable.

The machine is not for me - if it were I could build myself but would probably opt for a standard refurb as best value for money PC -and hardly a decent local shop within 50 miles! A refurb has been ruled out.

Owing to budget the minimum spec that is acceptable and has good value is desired. Upgrade such as extra drive storage or interfaces, screen is not always easy/possible on lower end laptops inside the case. Hence desire for upgrade capability. It is accepted that is not the best longer term cost approach. Much easier with a tower/desktop.

Laptop with add on bits (external mouse/keyboard/monitor/interfaces) probably the most expensive route such as add £150 or more!

So one of those recommended on another will fit the bill.

    Thanks.
