Today I have started the process of closing a bank account, I am nights again starting tonight but before I head in I will start brushing up my CV, I've decided to go against what I have believed in for the longest time and I will start to do some private work, a recognition that the wages I currently receive are not reflective of the work I do, and the treatment received by myself and others by those with the ability to decide how much I am worth in my current role is not going to improve, so like many in my field I will start the process of going private whilst still keeping some of my work public based, till eventually I will be all private no doubt working in the public sphere but earning what is more realistic for a person in my role, it's not what I want to do, I feel as if I am being forced into this move, but it is what it is.
Food wise I have a quick few days menu planned let me know what u think.
Chicken with veg
Lamb with veg
mince and tatties
macaroni and cheese with salad
Steak with peppercorn sauce
any other recommendations?5 -
I am cross and sad that you and so many in your field who are committed, highly trained, compassionate and with an amazing work ethic are being forced into the same situation. I understand that financially the country is up wotsit creek, but the money should be found somewhere.
Food wise, if you both eat eggs omelette or frittata are quick and easy and all manner of tasty odds and ends can be added, a side salad or some steamed broccoli etc make a nourishing supper and quite light on the digestive system when very tired. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Do you have a slow cooker? If so you could prep something like a stew and chuck it in the SC so that it is cooked when you get home and just need to cook some mash or something to go with it, or even add potatoes to the stew (although I'm not keen on them cooked in the SC nor freezing them in the leftovers!)

Good to see you Elantan. Not so good you've had a hard year. I know you and oh are more than competent cooks so won't comment on that.
However I also know that you are Scotland, suggest that you double check re POA , in England you don't need a lawyer or doctor.
Wishing you well5
