    And the tie goes inside the waistcoat. The vest is worn under the shirt. I don't know anyone under 60 who still wears vests.
    I'm well over 60 and may wear vests rather than a more bulky extra layer when I'm working outdoors.

    But, despite being old and doddery, I knew the OP meant 'waistcoat.'


    That's something I'd never wear, though. Take a fashion tip from Jacob Rees-Mogg, who appears keep his jacket on and buttoned-up all the time, even when horizontal.

    The word ''vest'' means waistcoat when discussing tailoring.
