Warranty not what its worth

Hello,
A few months ago I bought a Lenovo laptop. I have treated it carefully and only used it at home for normal use. Recently the hinge on the screen at the left hand side broke, so as it was still within warranty I contacted Lenovo.
They tell me that I cannot claim under the warranty as it is "Physical Damage". They told me to look at the section under What this agreement does not cover - and below is what it says.
If an item can be broken under normal use within the warranty period and the supplier simply says that it falls under "What the agreement does not cover", then what is the point of a warranty ?
Does anyone have a suggestion what I should do next ?
Thanks
Chris
3. WHAT THIS AGREEMENT DOES NOT COVER
This Agreement does not cover:
(i) Normal wear and tear of the Product;
(ii) Parts intended to be replaced or consumed (e.g., batteries), or those components listed in Section 2.c of this
document, or cosmetic damage (e.g, scratches, dents, or cracks that do not affect the Product’s functionality or
structural integrity);
(iii) Damage from abuse, misuse, unauthorized modification, unsuitable physical or operating environment, improper
maintenance by anyone other than Lenovo authorized service providers, removal of original parts or alteration of a
Product or identification labels;
(iv) Damage caused by a product not covered under this Agreement or caused by biohazards or human or animal
bodily fluids; or
(v) Theft, loss or damage from fire, flood, or natural disaster, war, terrorism, or acts of God.

How long ago is a "few months"? You could get it inspected to see if in the technician's opinion, it's an inherent flaw in the hinge. If so, you could pursue the retailer using your consumer rights.0

As above warranty is an extra subject to terms and conditions .
Your Consumer Rights are against the vendor .
Purchase older than 6 months ??0 -
Damage to the hinges is usually caused by opening by lifting from one side only, rather then both sides, or from the middle of the lid.0
