NHS Job withdrawn ?

These recruiters seem to live in a world of their own. I know of a large law firm where vacancies remain unfilled for months, even years due to slowness of the process. By the time they get round to deciding who they want for the job (usually a couple of months) surprise, surprise all the applicants have found a job elsewhere, and they have to start from scratch again!
I thought the same. I was sad to see the same vacancy I was offered, re-advertised a couple of weeks ago.
I mean I went for the NHS interview a good 5 months ago nowWith love, POSR

Bear in mind that if they write to the referee, and the referee doesn't respond immediately, and then they have to check the response, that can be several working days, and all it takes is one or more people to have a couple of days off....
This is correct. I was involved in recruiting to several NHS posts and we frequently had the devil of a job chasing up references. I started in the NHS in a fixed term temporary post and when I got my first substantive post the recruiting manager even had to chase up my reference from within the same hospital!0 -
All your checks, references, etc can all be done and completed but can still be ages for them to give you a start date.
As I have already said I’ve known people to wait months.0 -
Some familiar stories! In my last NHS job we had to repeat a recruitment exercise twice because our HR was so slow that applicants were employed elsewhere by the time we were ready to take them. It meant we lost out on the best new graduates that year.0

Just a quick update:
I called the HR today and I came to the very same response. I asked for the person that is dealing my case.
He responded: Dont worry about the OCH we will chase them and the manager needs some clarifications regarding your references and we will let you know.
I really want to leave my current job but if I dont know what is happening with my references how can i apply for another similar role (?)0 -

I think you have just got to wait and see.
If they turn you down due to references you could make a subject access request and try to obtain a copy and see what has been said. Under the new GDPR your right to this is not quite as absolute as it was under the old data protection act but is still worth a try.
Given that references are not normally taken up until after interview you could start applying for alternatives. It is easy enough (and not uncommon) to withdraw an application if this one confirms.0 -
Application withdraw in a different thing.
Either the post might be filled internally or either someone has more qualifications than you. Either way you dont proceed to an interview.
I am aware for the delays in NHS as well.
I am concerned mostly for my references as I didn't have any issues before.
I hope if they wish to withdraw the offer to give a me reason.
But I suppose that if that was the case I should have known about now shouldn't I? Especially today that I called them.
At least I could have the chance to talk about my reference with my current manager or hr department as I never had issues before it must be my current employer.0 -
Greeting to you all,
Just a quick update on the case:
I received an email yesterday from the manager asking me to arrange a start date.
Still no unconditional offer received.
Cheers :beer:0
