NHS Job withdrawn ?

Greetings to you all

I had passed an interview with the NHS, job offered, Conditional offer issued.
References, DBS, OCH appointment attended.
The last email that I received after pushing the hr for a starting date and the och for results is that the manager will need some clarifications on top of my references and the HR will chase tha och for results and they will let me know.
I never had any issues regarding my references on my previous jobs.
2 weeks have passed and I have nothing new regarding the clarification needed either for the och results
Should I consider that the offer is withdrawn and move forward?

  • Not necessarily - there could be a lot of reasons they need time to get everything in place. On the other hand, I would never pass up any opportunity just because you have an offer. So get on with life, and if they come back to you then you can decide what you want to do then.

Although balls can be dropped, it would be normal to get a letter if the offer is being withdrawn.

Is it possible that may delay my employment for other reasons (induction days, fundings etc?)

I had the same issue earlier in the month. They had not withdrawn in my case but put the decision making on hold and have asked me to reapply again because they like my profile and because the department has been restructured in the between 4 weeks. :(

Now there just seems to be a new title for the same job with more work.

They haven't withdraw my offer either.
They just told me that they will chase the occupational health and that they need some clarifications regarding my references and they will let me know. That's it.
As far as I know there is no issue regarding my references nothing that I am aware.
And I was wondering if they said something just to delay the employment and stop me from sending emails to the hr and the och.
I am not really sure how the system works and for how long they can "freeze" a conditional offer.
  • Just 'phone HR and ask where in the recruitment process you are*.

Don't assume it's been withdrawn - they'd almost certainly tell you if it has. Two weeks is nothing in the NHS. Don't worry about inductions etc - that's their problem.

(* It's worth 'phoning anyway to make sure you haven't been overlooked - as Blatchford suggests mistakes can be made)

I will call them on Monday.
It is very frustrating as they were very harsh on their email like "dont bother as again we will let you know"
And is been over a month since they received all the documents needed for the checks.
Just 2 weeks from their last email.

There is no fixed answer to that, basically as long as they like I'm afraid.

"Some clarification regarding references" could mean almost anything. It could just be a technical "dot the Is and cross the Ts", it could be they have some reservations or it could be a polite way of saying they are considering withdrawing the offer. Ultimately you either have to wait their time or look elsewhere.
  • Your lucky, I have know people to fly into their new job and all recruitment checks to be complete in a month or two and then I have known others to have to wait three, four, five months, its a waiting game, but even if it was withdrawn you would be informed they wouldn't just ignore you.

    I see your point.
Well in any case I will keep you informed because is very strange to me as I never had any other issues with my previous employments.
Is it my current one maybe?
I just hope if they wish to withdraw to give me a reason so I will know what to do with my further applications or if I could stuck to a job that is not fulfilling me anymore.
There is no way that I will resign without the unconditional offer.

    I had everything ready.
    Had my references checked
Dbs is annual so done quickly
The only thing I had to short out was the och that I had my appointment on the 31/10 and I never heard from them ever since. They made it clear though that the results will not take longer than 7 days. OcH department never came back to my emails only the HR person said that I shouldn't chase them up they will do it instead which was very strange to me.
