Release date for Apple credit card in the UK?

The Apple credit card was announced earlier in 2019 and has only been available to iPhone users in the USA (so far). Apart from the fact that some users of the physical titanium card have reportedly suffered from discolouration of it having been placed into denim jeans pockets or letters wallets. And that Goldman Sachs appear to have some gender bias when it comes to credit scoring and limits. All in, the cash-back benefits look pretty good. 3% on qualifying Apple product purchases, 2% on Apple Pay/wallet spends and 1% on physical card purchase. There doesn’t seem to be any news on when Apple plan to release in the UK.

Unless anyone knows any different?

Would be good timing to have it released in time for Black Friday, Christmas shopping and new year sales.

    No it would not.
Also they would not be able to offer these cashback rates in the UK.

I'll apply for Apple Card in a few years if it becomes available.
Not read anything Uk wise as yet

  • As per your other post that mentions this - don’t expect the same rates in the uk as in the USA and be prepared for a substantial annual fee that will likely come with it.

  • I hope Google release one too.
  • Apple has already applied for the Apple Card trademark in the UK, but since UK is still part of the EU, they have to wait for the European Commission approval.

That's only the case if Apple has made an EU-wide trademark application:
Does the EU trade mark prevail over national trade marks?
A national trade mark gives protection only in the Member State in which it has been registered, while an EU trade mark gives its owner an exclusive right in all current and future EU Member States.
It is entirely up to the applicants whether they want to obtain national, regional, EU-wide or international registration of their trade mark.
Can a trade mark be registered individually in each Member State if protection throughout the entire EU is not sought?
Yes, a national registration can be obtained. In the EU, there is a four-tier system for registering trade marks. What you choose depends on the needs of your business.
