Installing Insulated wall boards

Hi, my bathroom has three external walls and I'm hoping to insulate using Celotex. The walls are half tiled with gloss tiles and half painted wallboard. I was planning to fix the Celotex with dot and dab directly to the existing walls and then add mechanical fixings after. My question is - will gyprock wall board adhesive do the job or will I have to remove or possible simply roughen up the tile surface?

I think the answer is maybe. The british gypsum tech helpline is useful.0

You would be far better off using a warm batten system. In a nutshell, put up a sheet of (for example) 50mm thick Celotex. Place vertical 25x50mm battens at 600mm intervals and fix to the underlaying brickwork with 80-100mm long fixings. Fill the gaps between the battens with 25mm Celotex sheets cut to size. Finally, finish off with plasterboard fixed to the battens - In a bathroom, use a cement board around the bath/shower area and moisture resistant plasterboard elsewhere.
You'll want to remove existing plaster & tiles back to bare brick - In a small bathroom, every inch counts, and that ~20mm or so of plaster & tiles could make all the difference.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0
