I know what you mean. It's plasterboard stuck to the wall with lumps of adhesive. You'll need to drill through the real wall behind it.Happy chappy0

We have plasterboard walls and never hang anything on them thet is too heavy. Mind you we do have 2 bathroom mirrors hung on the walls. We have no bricks behind the plasterboards as the house is timber frame so we have plaster board, insulation, timber and only bricks on the out side , bit like a posh shed. Would love a plasma screen on the lounge wall but fear the wall and TV might collapse:eek: . God only knows how the kitchen cupboards stay on the wall!0

You will really struggle doing this on your own!
For the fixing see here- http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/diy/fixing/plasterboard.htm
And for mounting the mirror flush mounts are good because the mirror sits flush to the wall- http://www.screwfix.com/prods/11423/Ironmongery/Brackets/Brackets/Flush-Mount-35mm
You will need the help of a friend though as it is almost impossible with a mirror that size on your own.0 -
You will need to drill through the plasterboard and into the solid wall beyond. I would then use what are often called wall anchors or hammer fixings which are basically a long screw in a grey plastic tube - you insert the plastic tube into the hole you've drilled, whack the screw in until its nearly all the way in, and then tighten it the last few turns with a hefty screwdriver. Its not the most cosmetic fixing in the world, but its about the only thing that's going to give you a plug and screw long enough to get into the solid wall beyond the plasterboard. I personally would not hang a mirror that heavy on plasterboard alone even with toggle fixings etc.

best thing to do is locate the timbers behind the plasterboard with a stud finder then screw into the timbers.........go and get that plasma screen for christmas !!!!!!!!!
Thats how they will have fixed the kitchen cupboards so securely0 -

For anyone else with the same problem, and there are about 3 million houses with dry lined walls...........try using a new fixing called drylinepro. It is so easy to use that even ...........no,,,,,,,,,,I wont go there!!
Cheers
