Have you used AliPay and is it a scam or safe to use?

Has any one used AliPay before and how did it go? I wan't to buy items from Aliexpress, but I am unable to use my cards and I can only pay by PayPal, but not all sellers accept it.

My account was hacked at the beginning of the year, my credit card company gave me back the full amount that was taken from my Credit card after they went shopping to buy all different laptops and phones. Because my cc gave me the money they did a charge back to get what they lost, but now I can't use my card to pay.

Aliexpress won't let me use my card for payment, they said I should of contacted them first, but naturally your going to contact your cc first and through the process of claiming it back I had spoken to Ali, but wasn't made aware straight away that I had to. Because my cc did the charge back they won't let me pay by card unless I get my company to cancel the charge back which obviously they won't.

I don't know if they will even allow me to use AliPay, but after what's happened i'm not sure if AliPay is a scam or not and would appreciate any advise or information you may have.

It's so frustrating as I only buy craft items like dies, stamps etc, I have ordered load of items , spent a lot and never had any problems at all prior to being hacked and it's unfair being punished when you've not done anything wrong.

Thanks

It’s not a scam, similar to PayPal but suspect less protection. I have used it a few times. If AliExpress won’t let you use card then you’ll probably find the same problem using it for AliPay.

Is it your card that’s blocked by them or you? If the former maybe get another card?
  • Thanks for your advice, I appreciate it.

I have no idea if it's me or just the card and I've never even thought about it, but I will look into it.

You get charged for using Paypal too, when I pay for some items some go through first time and others won't go through at all. Those that don't go through a error code comes up saying payment failed, Error code CSC_7200022 and is asking to change the currency to USD, but I tried that and it still didn't go through.

Feels like i'm banging my head against everything

I allways use my UK card.

Been buying for years from alliexpress.

I tried my card first with alliexpress, it failed, then I phoned my card/bank and explain what I am doing. They normally say sorry but its bank policy to stop payments to a serious foreign country that I have not purchased from before.
Now that my card/bank are aware I do alliexpress purchases I no longer have any issues.

Sometimes I have to have a couple of goes at getting to alliexpress checkout process, I think sometimes they are overwhelmed?

Note, I bought a good drone for my 14 year old last year, the drone never arrived, I contacted alliexpress and they refunded my card straight away.
  • This isn't specific to your situation OP but I just noticed Holland and Barrett offer AliPay, alongside PayPal and WeChat(!) as alternatives to card payment so I would assume from that that it is safe :)
