Dfs sofa faulty help

Hi

I’ve had a dfs sofa about 18 months now. It’s ‘leather’ but it’s been peeling. I’ve already had it repaired but it’s going again in the same place and other places.

What can I do? It’s on finance so could I get them to state unfit for purpose? They keep saying they want to repair but I work term time so only able to be home every 6 weeks as they don’t come weekends! Just can’t have them repairing this all the time and then what happens when the warranty runs out?

Can I push for them to take sofas back at all?

  • I have had the same problem with my sofa .. we purchased over 5 years ago ( told it would last for 20). We purchased the most expensive sofa in the shop as we were told it would last.  We went for a grey colour it was never explain that the colour would peel off. we have always told them it was faulty and they used to come out and respray for us .. now we have finished paying and the insurance has ran out the refuse to help... they have know said well it looks like there must be a problem and want to charge us £600 to recover the seats .. why they didn't say this when it was insured.. we are really upset we can't afford to buy another, and we are left with a sofa with all the colour peeling off !!!
  • I bought a leather sofa from DFS 15 months ago, the leather has started to peel along the front edge (bead). The engineer visited and said it was wear and tear, and went to the store and told them that this means “they must expect sofa to fail after 15 months”. They are sending someone out to repair it (probably spray it] but this means it will fail again. I have agreed but wonder if I should just request a full refund

You're not entitled to a full refund (sorry) as you've had the goods more than 6 months. They're also entitled to effect a repair if that is their choice.

You are entitled to a proportional refund if the goods again become faulty after the 1st repair attempt (whether the same fault or not).
