67 pence....

Santander have offered me 67 pence in settlement of a claim which I made on the off-chance. It relates to a claim from 1996, and I've long since dumped my records from then so I don't know how much the payments cost me. Santander's latest letter says that they consider the claiim time-barred, hence the 67 pence offer. They say that "under general legal principles ...... you have three years to bring a claim in court against SCUKL from the date that you know or ought to have known the following "Relevant Knowledge":
* the material facts about the loss suffered;
* the identity of who caused your loss (or could have discovered this by way of making an enquiry: and
* that the loss stemmed from the sale of the PPI by SCUKL"
They consider that I should have known that stuff by 1st January 2012.

Has anyone else had a response like this? Is it anything to do with me having made the claim myself rather than through a claims company?

Comments

  • Yes, others have had time barred responses. Nothing to do with not using a claims company, apart from the fact you are slightly richer than if you had.

    Enjoy the refund.
  • Don't spend it all at once! :)
