Different Temperature and Weather Forecast

Options
I have an Alexa Echo Show and a Galaxy 10.1 A Android tablet.

Both show the weather forecast and temperature on their home page but they show different temperatures and weather.

Both set to my home address yet the give different results.

Why?

Alexa uses accuweather, your samsung device will use a different forecaster.

That many variables in weather that if you got everyone to measure all of them, no one would get exactly the same results.
  • Different web engines for the search

  • I would say 'cos they're !!!!, but the helpful answer is that they're both probably aggregating data from different services. Plus they can't tell what's actually happening at your home address, they're each probably based on the nearest weather station to you - plus maybe a little magic in the algorithm to account for the weather moving from the station to your location. Our nearest station is a couple of miles away. I tend to use the met office, ventusky & bbc weather and they all offer a different outlook

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • that took me so long to type - both previous posters hit the nail on the head

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • So how do I find out where the weather stations are?

Not such a stupid question. I just googled myself out of interest and a number of map based lists - all different came up - some omitted the one I know about in Sheffield, some added an extra one I didn't know about.

The met office one should be the most accurate, but I couldn't fathom it - I'm going back in though...

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • This is going to drive me mad now. Here's some kind of public network operated by the met office, but it doesn't seem to include the one at Weston Park here in Sheffield which has been in place for close to 150 years

There'll be another list, but I wouldn't be surprised if accuweather et al aggregated data from that wow network too

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • This might be it, I knew there weren't that many 'proper' ones

  • Hi,

try a search here, BBC weather, then scroll down to Observations and it'll give station, latitude and longitude.
  • Now I know why my outside thermometer does not show the same temperature as my Echo Show.

It is getting it's info from 12 miles away.
