TransferWise takes a percentage fee (probably 0.35%) and converts at the perfect mid-market rate that you see on xe.com. Others may charge no fee but put a reasonable margin on the conversion rate. Revolut converts at the mid-market rate (weekdays) with no fee up to £5k/month, 0.5% thereafter (basic account).

Just on the Revolut 0.5% charge.
Would that be that only the values over £5k get charges at 0.5% or would it be that if I made a £6k transfer one month that the full £6k would get hit at 0.5% (its not exactly clear reading from the Revolut site).

Most normal months I would be under the £5k but there are going to be some where I work overtime and be over the limit.
