Help, 1st time poster

Afternoon all.
Last Saturday I received a "demand for payment" from DEBT RECOVERY PLUS on behalf of Euro Parks Ltd.
It was dated 11.11.19. and was the 1st I knew of any parking charge.

It stated that I had incurred a charge for staying too long on 9.8.19 (more than 3 calender months before).
It went on to say that they had sent the original PCN to the registered keeper (me) but having not received any response they had used a tracing service which is how they sent this letter to me.
They also told me it was my responsibility to keep DVLA updated with a current address.
The PCN is now £150 !!!

I went onto the DVLA website and have taken a screenshot of the last issued driving licence with my new address which I had done on 27.6.19 ie approx 6 weeks before the ticket was issued.

Because it is a debt agency, I don't even have the original PCN which presumably would have had photos and times.
The issues as I see them.
1. The first I have known about the PCN was 16.11.19 even tho the PCN related to 9.8.19....more than 3 calender months time span.
2. No evidence provided
3. It has already been passed/sold onto Debt Recovery Plus.
4. I can believe I was there and parked too long.
5. I have no receipts to appeal to the retailer..... B&M and Aldi.
6. I only work part-time and even the original PCN (£60 I believe) would have been too much to pay in one go

Thanks in advance for any possible solutions offered. And thanks for taking the time to read this 🎵 Paul

Are the details on your V5c correct? Please actually check rather than guess like so many people do.

That's irrelevant, it's what's on your V5C (logbook) that you need to look at.

Nothing you can do now DRP are involved. Just ignore them - please read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #4.

Come back on this thread if you receive a formal Letter of Claim and/or court papers from the Northampton CCBC.

The fine is up to one thousand pounds for not updating the V5C , so check it and get it done asap if you haven't already done so

The driving licence is irrelevant , it's the V5C that counts
  • Also remember that the road tax reminder goes to the address on the V5C.

No road tax could result in your car being taken if stopped by police.

Post Four of the Newbies Sticky covers DRP in their entirety - so new posters don't need to write great long posts and we don't have to keep tepeating the basics.

OP, have you based your forum username on your real name?

If so, you would be well advised to get your forum username changed to something completely anonymous.

To do that, you might like to read this short extract from The MSE Forum Guide - Frequently Asked Questions & Rules:
    Q. How can I change my username?

    A.
In most circumstances, this is not permitted.

The only reason we will change your username is if it puts your privacy at risk. This usually means you've inadvertently registered using your name, email address or something that gives away your identity within your username.

If you fall into this category, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com and request that it is changed, giving three alternative usernames in order of preference.

What's your driving licence address got to do with where your car was registered to? Nowt.

The only connection is that this is data held by the DVLA but one does not cross to alter the other.

Read the NEWBIES thread and any ECP and DRP thread and you will see this is drivel and so are they, and the demands are to be ignored, BUT you do need to:

    - update your car's registration address (now urgent, of course) and
    - email ECP's data protection officer to tell them your new address, and
    - complain to the retailer who can cancel a PCN in 1 minute flat, one email.

Then ignore them unless ECP ever break the habit of a lifetime and sue. We assume this was in England or wales as you didn't mention you are in Scotland.

The NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST thread covers it, either way. Only the most stupid, deluded, misinformed or weak victims are daft enough to contact DRP or pay them, or ECP, any attention!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

[FONT=Times New Roman, serif]Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP after the election, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
