Rbs ppi

My husband put a claim for PPI at RBS in July. He had a letter last week saying they were busy with the backlog. Today I have had a phone call (number withheld) foreign lady saying she was from RBS PPI team and she wanted to know my details for security. I wouldn’t give them to her because she asked for me by name and not my husband, whose card it was. Now is this legit or a scam. Anyone else had a withheld number from RBS.

  • Call them on a confirmed number.

I did actually call RBS and I was just wasting my time because he couldn’t give me an answer. Only thing he did confirm was that they did outsource their phone calls.
  • Most probably outsourced to India but even so, I would be surprisee if they rang on a withheld number.

So most probably the correct thing to do.

If they asked for the personal financial details of someone whose name is not even on the complaint, then you were correct to withhold the information. If anyone rings in future, tell them they should make such requests only in writing and to the correct complainant.

I sincerely doubt any PPI complaint will be compromised by doing this, but you will be safe from possible identity theft or other scam.
