Gladstone Brookes

Before the PPI deadline I decided to file a potential PPI claim even though I was convinced that I'd never had PPI but I did it anyway...just in case. I went with Gladstone Brookes. A couple of months passed then I started getting daily calls from the Gladstone Brookes call centre (based in some foreign land) saying that I was I had indeed had PPI and I was due to a claim. The person I spoke to had a very strong regional accent and was quite difficult to understand. She tried to tell me I'd had PPI on a Curry's store card. I have NEVER had a Curry's store card. I tried to explain that my original potential claims were against Barclaycard and Alliance & Leicester (the only people I have EVER had loans from) but it was like talking to a brick wall. She wanted further info before she could proceed with the claim....I told her I would only continue if someone from Gladstone Brookes English HQ dealt with me. The foreign call centre has since rung me twice a day...for the last 6 weeks. I have tried Emailing/Calling Gladstone Brookes UK HQ with zero response. I can't decide what to do....part of me say 'just give them the info they want and just get on with it' the other part of me thinks the whole thing stinks to high heaven and I should just block their number. Any suggestions?

  • This is the problem when you sign up to a suckers list. It's easy to get on but very difficult to get off it.

Why not let them proceed with the "complaint"? If you are adamant that you didn't hold such a card then it will all be for naught and your telesales calls will end.

However, are you certain these calls actually originate from Gladstone Brookes? If not, I'd therefore check with them directly first in case this is some kind of scam call you are receiving.

If they are demanding money upfront before any complaint can be made then you can be sure this is a scam.
