Morning all
Thank you all very much for your kind words yesterday. We had wobble about it but we have decided to try to carry on as we are, for as long as possible, come what may.
The swimming gala yesterday was confusing to the children as they were moved from pillar to post and it lasted too long. It over ran by 1hr15 mins and unfortunately we had to leave before the end to get to my GP appointment. There were about 300 children and lots of waiting around. DGS didn't do very well and even he noticed that no one had a chance of winning against the 2 private schools who swept the board. It hasn't put him off his swimming club though, so as long as he enjoys that and he gets some exercise that's good.
Today the DGC are here as their school has an inset day. DGS, who also has gone down with the lurgy, is X boxing with Mr Fix It and coughing for Wales. DGD is making a calendar and we've already been colouring, reading and have made brownies. The brownies are cooling then we will use a Xmas tree cutter and decorate them. It's going to be a loooong day :rotfl:.
My cough seems to have broken so I'm hoping for a good sleep tonight.
Dumpling I hope everything turns out well for you and your family.
taff my cough is my "go to " one, which is the case since childhood. It's always a dry cough that also affects my voice. Everyone's happy about that :rotfl:.
TA sorry you now have the lurgy, no consolation to you but it seems every other person has it too. I'm with you on the present front, I don't know what to get the adults and haven't even got a clue this year.
Speky from a Mum's point of view it's a very big step for your "child" to join the Reserves, no matter what age the "child" is, as they love you so much. I'm sure Mum and Gran will come round and wish you well eventually. They may not like your decision, but it is your decision as an adult to make. Hope I haven't spoken out of turn...... apologies if I have.
Hugs to all the poorlies, recuperating, struggling and the MIA's.
Oh well the brownies have cooled, so we are off to make Xmas trees and a lot of mess :rotfl:
Take care all

Morning! just! about to have a shower to go out for dinner with OHs mam and dad. Sort of a pre christmas present...and we have some vouchers
Plans today are to get the printer working for boarding passes, buy a pair of leggings/trousers somewhere supermarkety and remove the items from the car I picked up from someone yesterday. I picked up something for me which will be used immediately and she was also getting rid of a chest of drawers for nothing [ was going to tip them] so I got them and will give to a local charity to sell. I can't stand to see things going to waste.
Finger is much better today, got a thumbs up from nurse friend for the dressing last night, we met for coffee, and we have a plan for christmas/birthday drinks in a few weeks..
Jackie, you moan away, I was just worried you'd delay your recovery out of frustration with the time it's taking. I know well the feeling of 'whe is it ever going to get better?'...nanny, well...slate and chalk for christmas then?TA, yes, everything is shutting don isn't it? Had a big argument yesterday with someone who wanted to tell me things are so much better now...compared to what i asked? There are more people, less services....Gers, well done on your recovery, sunds like it's going really well! Marie...I just do, I don't think I'm doing anything especially strenuous, but then, I'm also an idiot sometimes. Lugging about bits of marble was probably not my best idea last night..Next time, why not go into karate with him?
As nmlc said dumpling, you might have to wait for a while for your OH to receive benefits..I think he could probably get carers allowance though. Go to turn2us and see...Also check out the grants section on there, you or he might fit a criteria on there. ruby, hope your job is safe [ if you want it to be]
Hope everyone is OK as they can be...Frenetic Friday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
TA our local bus service is being reduced to 2 hourly!! Its stupid, many of the villagers are elderly and cannot use the bus, no other transport available unless someone takes them. Those who can travel, if they need to go to the Drs in the next village they cannot travel before 9.30. if they miss a bus coming back they have to wait 2 hours for the next one. I can see an increase in the Drs home visits. Our practice covers a wide area and has just taken on a Dr just to do home visits. The service has also been amalgamated with another service so the bus journey via the villages takes twice as long. The changes start on 21st December. Of course the bas fares are going up as well.0

Evening all,
It's been raining heavily here for most of the day, I hate rain!
We had a tea and cake evening at DD3's new house, they moved in today, which is DGD7s third birthday......she was "wound up" with excitement at her presents and enjoying the pleasure of ordering the older cousins around, There is a party tomorrow for the wider family and friends......it starts at midday and may end very late.....I will be there for the start but definitely not for the end.
We don't use a bus service.......nearest stop is more than a kilometre away.....would like to use it as we have free travel since the age of 66. The service is rather haphazard, good in morning and evening but drawn out otherwise.
Dumpling.....I hope that you will be able to sort your finances satisfactorily......when I had to take early retirement we were able to manage better than we expected, so explore all possible avenues.
TA........I remember the year that my parents died (15th October and 11th December )as the worst Christmas of my life, but it took a couple of years to get back into the spirit of things......you will get there. I have decided this year that I am only buying presents for my grandchildren and that for everyone else I am making a donation to a homeless charity and have asked that everyone intending to buy me something do the same......there is a huge homeless problem here at present and I feel that none of my family are in need of anything that they cannot provide for themselves.
JackieO.....take it easy.
Hugs for everyone who could use one
